Rhonda Rose Minthon

September 13, 1959 – June 3, 2017

Rhonda “Nu-Nu” Minthorn, a lifelong Pendleton resident, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Willowbrook Terrace after a severe illness.

Rhonda was born September 13, 1959 to Sylvester Minthorn and Virginia (Williams) Minthorn, in Pendleton, Oregon.  She was a graduate of Pendleton High School in 1978.  She was a volunteer for the Happy Canyon Night Show and Pendleton Round-Up, where her family has camped and participated since its inception.

Rhonda was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation in Washington, but lived all her life in Pendleton and Warm Springs, Oregon.  She worked for several years a Safeway in Madras, Oregon and various jobs here in Pendleton.  She loved her companion dog Toto, taking walks, listening to music, watching movies, attending powwows, rodeos, sporting events and was devoted to our Washat (Seven Drums) religion.  She was always kind, never judged, and had so much love in her heart for her family and friends.

She is survived by her siblings; Larry Minthorn, Sheldon “Pauly” Minthorn, Audwin “Odie” Minthorn, Sandra Minthorn, Virginia “Bubby” Minthorn and Rosetta Minthorn.  Numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sylvana Denise Minthorn Shippentower, brother Chester “Ace” Minthorn and Farren “Jinks” Minthorn, maternal grandparents McKinley and Susie Williams, paternal grandparents Wilbur and Lucy Minthorn, uncles Rudolph “Musky” Williams, Warren “Goose” Williams, Robert “Bob” Williams, Victor Williams, aunts Armenia Miles and Eva Lavadour; and several other family members from both sides of her family.

To the family, my deepest heart felt condolences to all of you. I have so many memories of us at Gramma Susie's when we were children. Her gentle soul and smile will be missed. My prayers are with you.

My condolences to the family for your loss. May "the God of all comfort" give peace to each of you as we await the day when Jesus calls for those in the memorial tombs to come out. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4; John 5:28,29)
