Robert Earl Johnson

November 13, 1947 – January 21, 2016

Robert Earl Johnson died at his home at the age of 68.  He died from complications of long-term diabetes which he had lived with for over 45 years.

Bob was born to Erving and Mary Johnson in Pendleton, Oregon, where he lived his entire life.  He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1966 and attended BMCC for a couple of years.  In February 1971 he married Carol Nunamaker.  He worked as an aid at EOSH and was also employed by Pendleton Bowling Lanes.  In 1980 he began working for Safeway as a food clerk.  He worked there until 1998 when he became disabled due to a series of strokes.

Bob enjoyed bowling along with other various sports activities.  He also developed an appreciation for the Bible and its value.  In 2001 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and greatly enjoyed activities and friendships with those in his congregation.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Erving and Mary Johnson and his stepmother Esther Johnson.  He was also preceded in death by his in-laws Joe, Marion, and Tom Nunamaker.

He is survived by his wife Carol and daughter Janelle of Pendleton, along with his daughter JoLynn (Jerry) Shaw of Baker City, Oregon.  He has four grandchildren, Trey, Caleb, Riley and Taylor Shaw also of Baker City.  Bob is also survived by his brother Richard (Joyce) Johnson of Tigard, Oregon; brother-in-law Richard (Norma) Nunamaker of Boardman, Oregon, and sister-in-law Reneé Nunamaker of Pullman, Washington, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Bob and his family have always appreciated the many people in the healthcare field who have helped in his care over the years – especially Dr. Dan Marier.
