Dolores Elna (Allen) Shepherd

October 31, 1926 - January 13, 2016

Dolores Shepherd passed away January 13, 2016 in Walla Walla, WA at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side at the age of 89. She was born October 31, 1926 in Adams, Oregon to William and Emma Allen. She was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.  She attended school in Adams, Oregon and graduated. She married Warren Shepherd on Nov. 3, 1948 in Winnemucca, Nevada.

She was a homemaker and daycare provider. She loved being around children especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Adams Community Church, Athena Christian Church and the Pendleton Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed decorating for all the holidays, gardening, walking, baking, dancing, and watching movies. She loved animals, babysitting, traveling, and listening to country music.

She is preceded in death by her father William Allen, mother Emma Allen, brothers Charles Allen, Willard Allen, Faye Allen, and Verl Allen.

She is survived in death by her daughters Gloria (Richard) Skeman of Pendleton, OR, Ann Stanley of Hermiston, OR, and Faye Lambert of Athena, OR, Lisa (Wayne) Hotchkiss, Tylene Hill and by her grandchildren Shawn (Carrie) Simonsen, Jake (Ashlie) Stanley, Travis Lambert, and Tonya Lambert, and by five great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the Adams Community Church, Adams, OR, at 12:30, with a celebration of life and lunch to follow in the fellowship room.  Sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Hello Ann and family, I just learned of the loss of your mom. I remember many visits to your home and your mom always had a welcoming smile on her face. She was a strong woman, courageous provider, and very loving. She always seemed to have great energy. Be blessed with your special memories. Love, Barb
