Mary Alice Raynalds

June 17, 1921--February 9, 2015

Born in Clovis, New Mexico, Mary Alice Raynalds grew up in Lubbock Texas.  She attended Texas Tech University.  Mary married David P. Raynalds, a fellow student.  During World War II, she worked at the Bremerton Naval Shipyards while her husband served in the Pacific.  After the war, the couple moved from Texas to the Pacific Northwest and lived for many years in Stanfield, and later Pendleton.  Mary worked at the Oregon State Hospital in Pendleton where she had many friends.  She was a talented cook, a dedicated gardener and enjoyed sitting quietly on summer evenings looking out over her beautiful backyard.  At the time of her death, Mary lived at Courtyard Assisted Living at Mt. Tabor in Portland, Oregon, near three of her four children.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband David Raynalds, mother Ida Waln and father Wesley Waln.  She is survived by her brother Weldon Waln of Arlington, Texas, daughter Laura Wyckoff and son-in-law Christy Wyckoff, daughter Donna Raynalds, son David Raynalds and daughter-in-law Martha McKinley, all of Portland, Oregon, and daughter Mary Rey and son-in-law Michael Rey of Lopez Island, Washington.

At Mary’s request, no funeral service was held. She was buried at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, Oregon.  Sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.
