Stella “Elaine” Urban, 69 died unexpectedly on October 22, 2014 at Kadlec Regional Hospital in Richland, Washington.

Elaine was born on May 22, 1945 in Pendleton, Oregon to Hobart (Stubby) Johnson and Mary Cargill Johnson.  She attended St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Pendleton High School in1964.  After graduation, she attended Western Business College in Portland that lead to a career with Pacific Northwest Bell as a computer programmer.  She transferred to Pendleton and took classes at BMCC and received her AA degree in Liberal Arts in 1984.  She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from OSU and graduated with high scholarship in 1989.

Elaine also worked at the OSU Experiment Station field station in Hermiston.  Later, she worked at the Farm Service Agency office in Pendleton.

Elaine enjoyed gardening, knitting and music.  She travelled to Israel and Europe among other destinations.  Elaine lived her faith and shared the Gospel of Christ’s love with others.

While attending BMCC, she met her future husband, Karl Urban.  They were married 21 years at the time of his death.

Elaine is survived by her siblings; Beverly McCloud, Dick Johnson, Mary Ella Hoffman; sisters-in-law Mary Borkowski and Ethel Divinia; nephews, Randy Tachella, Casey Anderson, niece Malissia Marham; many grand and great newphews and nieces.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sister Rita Johnson, and nephews; Bill Tachella & Zeb Johnson.
