Montana Rex Batterton

November 22, 1994 – February 25, 2014

Montana Rex Batterton – was born on November 22, 1994, two days before Thanksgiving, to Marshall and Carol Batterton, joining big brothers Jesse and Marcus.

He resided in his early years in Helix and Athena, Oregon, where he also attended Helix and Athena Elementary Schools, and in June of 2013 graduated from Weston-McEwen High School.  The family then moved for a year to Pendleton before becoming caretakers of Bar M Ranch.  He and his brother Marcus enjoyed many hours here 4x4ing in the snow.

Montana loved to go fishing with big brother Jesse anywhere fish could be found.  And so when his family relocated to their permanent home on Tollgate Mt. in 2012, he was thrilled to discover that there was a pond right above their home.

His dad Marshall, brother Marc, and him would spend many long hours working on cars! And it was his dream to one day open his own mechanics/body-work shop with them, after college.  He also loved to go camping, playing basketball with his friends, and caring for new blue heeler puppy, Jax.  But, perhaps best of all, Montana is remembered for his quick smile, cornball-sense-of-humor, and sweet disposition.  He would do most anything to help out and put a smile on the faces of his family and friends.  Whether it was being his Mom’s walking buddy, giving a friend a ride, or sharing a hug and a kind word; Montana would do it without a second thought.

He is survived by his parents Marshall and Carol Batterton, brothers Jesse Jackson and Marcus Batterton, his maternal grandmother “Mama” Jessica McEachern, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Ray and Donna Batterton, maternal grandfather Ted Tewalt, and uncle Timothy J. Nye.

Montana Batterton died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.  He was 19 years old.  Sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

My heart is with you. I remember when Montana first started coming to the library. What a handsome young man you raised. The years seem to fly by, but never enough living years, I guess. God Bless you and yours as you begin a journey.
