August 15, 1930 – November 5, 2013


DeLila Jane Stills – a Pendleton resident passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at a local care facility.  She was 83 years old.  Services will be held at a later date.  Read the obituary and send condolences online at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is handling arrangements. 

DeLila was born August 15, 1930, in Saratoga, Wyoming, to Sam L. and Lila (Stinard) Ramsey.  She was raised in Deschutes County where she attended School.  On April 8, 1947, at the age of 16 she married Vernon L. Stills in Bend, Oregon.  They made their home in Bend where they raised their three children.  She had worked as a Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at a grocery store Postal Substation for many years.  She attended the Baptist Church in Bend.  She had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2089 Auxiliary.  Her true passion was spending time with her family.  DeLila had a big heart, she spent a lot of time caring for others; friends as well as people in need.

She is survived by her son Gordon Stills of Pendleton, OR, her daughter Nancy Stills of Fresno, CA, a sister Dorothy Stiles of Klamath Falls, OR, and her five grandchildren: Justin Garant, Joshua Cravy, Travis Stills, Adam Stills, and Sammie Stills.  She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Stills, her parents Sam and Lila Ramsey, and her daughter Lila Paul.

Gordon, we are so sorry and saddened to learn of your mother's passing. Ruth spotted the obituary and brought it across the street to us and asked that I write for both of us.

Your mother was indeed a very special, kind and caring person. There is literally not one day that passes that I don't miss her and have just decided that I will dislike anyone else in "their" house. Both of your parents were very important to us and to our family. Their constant kindness and helpfulness touched our lives so many times. We miss them deeply.

Our thoughts are with you and your family.
