Archie Morrow Sr. died peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of Saturday the 30th of March.  He succumbed to complications of Parkinson’s Disease after a long and debilitating struggle.  He was the last of his family, preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters and his beloved wife Bonita, he was 85.

Born to Walter and Hettie Morrow in Clebit, Oklahoma, on September 30, 1927, he spent many years working in logging camps with his blacksmith father and logger brothers.  He joined the Army at the end of World War II, was honorably discharged, and shortly thereafter met and married Helen Rhodes of Camas, Washington.  They moved to Pendleton in 1947 with their infant son Archie Jr. and their second son Larry was born there in 1948.  Years later he married Bonita Schuening in Friday Harbor, Washington.  Though he would move to different places all over the country, he always thought of Pendleton as his true home, so, when his health began to fail, he moved into the Morrow household in 2003.  Daily, he would assist in the care of his wife till her death in 2007.

He was baptized and ordained as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1950, and began a long life of service to local congregations and communities all over the area.  The family assisted in the formation of, and early years of congregations in Pendleton, Walla Walla, and Milton-Freewater.  He stayed involved through the joys and troubles of his life, and many are the Brothers and Sisters from congregations all over the North West, who will attest to his kind and gentle care.  He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his two sons, Archie Jr. of Pendleton, and Larry of Sacramento, California, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  His memorial service will be held at the Pendleton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 18th, 2013.  You may sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.

I am so sorry Archie passed a way. He was big part of our family when I was growing up, and became well loved by my whole family. I miss him sitting in the back of the Hall; but I know he will be resurrected to a much better life and will once again get to enjoy him. NOw I know why my Dad and him was so close, they both were loggers at heart.

Dear Archie and Larry. Your dad is such an important part of my memories. He had a beautiful smile and 'catching' sense of humor. What a lovely, loving, lovable and much loved man. He had so much to give and was never short handled when it came time to pass it out. My Mom and Dad have both passed away and I have learned in time when it is time the pain will become less. Remember the love you felt, and the good times and laughter you shared. I would enjoy hearing from you and maybe share some of the memories. Valera and family
