Donald Wayne Hatley October 24, 1931 – February 16, 2012 On February 16, 2012, Donald Wayne Hatley passed away peacefully at his home. He was 80 years old. At Wayne's request a memorial service will not be held and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Humane Society, PO Box 1876, Pendleton, OR 97801. Sign the online guestbook at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements. Wayne was born October 24, 1931 in Colfax, Washington, to Marion and Florence Hatley. He was raised in the Clarkston/Pullman Washington area, where he attended all 12 years of school. Wayne was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in the Korean War. Wayne worked farming jobs when he was young, and eventually became a Deputy Sheriff in Corrections for the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office where he retired in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, tending to his animals, taking trips to the mountains, and watching old western movies. Wayne is survived by his daughters: Lisa Irwin-Stefani and Penny Evans both of Pendleton, Oregon, sons Brian Hatley of Echo, Oregon, Bobby Hatley of Hermiston, Oregon, and Marion Hatley of Lewiston, Idaho, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as his loyal dog Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Della.

   Posted Tue February 21, 2012 were the best man I ever knew, you are the standard that I hold all men in my life up to.I wasn't ready to let you go yet and its with a heavy heart that I have.Please don't worry about Mom and Charlie, we are making sure they are being taken care of.Grandpa I miss and love you very much.May your soul and spirit rest in peace.

Wayne was a very wounderful peerson He was all ways there when u need some one to talk to he was there for my mom and family he will be greatley missed by all Im sorry I never had more time with him he will be missed our prays are with his family jodie and ron

Goodbye dear old friend. Chief always had a kind word and a quick smile for everyone. The place isn't the same without him and Charlie. Grandpa, another birthday has passed without you and it felt so empty....i love and miss you so much...i often wonder if the pain will ever lessen...or the yearning for you!!!RIP grandpa
