Darla Kay Phillips July 22, 1938 – December 20, 2011 Darla Kay Phillips was born July 22, 1938, at Pendleton, Oregon, to parents Leon and Bernice Ruck. She died on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 at her home in Pendleton, Oregon, at the age of 73. Darla was raised in Pendleton, Oregon, and graduated from Pendleton High School with the class of 1956. She worked as a secretary for a freight company right after high school until June of 1960. She married Ross D. Phillips in September of 1957. They were married for 45 years. She enjoyed drawing, oil painting, and flower arranging. The hobby she enjoyed most was researching and writing about the history of Pendleton. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy K. Biddle and son-in-law Ted Biddle, both of Pendleton, OR, son, Greg D. Phillips and daughter-in-law Tammy Phillips of Hermiston, OR, brother, Daryl Ruck of Bend, OR, four grandchildren; Nicole Bowman of Pendleton, OR, Tyler Biddle of Oregon City, OR, Trevor & Gaige Phillips of Hermiston, OR, and great-granddaughter Elaine Bowman of Pendleton, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Bernice Ruck and husband Ross D. Phillips. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, with a Celebration of Life gathering following the service at the Pendleton Church of the Nazarene, 2801 SW Hailey Avenue in Pendleton. Please join the family for a time of remembrance and celebration. Memorial contributions may be made to the Umatilla County Historical Society in her name. She was a very true friend and classmate. The last time I came to Pendleton I stayed with her and we went over all of the good times we had in high school. I will truly miss her. Beverly J. Vaught Heyden

She was our class "go-to-girl". A hard and dedicated worker for all of our class reunions; am so glad I was able to visit with her at the October reunion. She will be missed...
