Her mother died when Kay was 5 days old, and at the age of 2, she was adopted by Louisa & Lorito Lapaglia who were in their mid 60's at that time. Life was hard for Kay as a child, as her elderly parents who were from Italy, did not believe in anything like allowing her to play. She had five older sisters who remained with her dad and his new wife, whom he went to Italy to find. Kay married Grover G. Bob White on January 3, 1954, and moved to Yakima and then Pasco, Washington, where Bob was in Radio. In 1957, they came to Pendleton, where Kay worked for 10 ½ years at the Pendleton Drug Store. They then owned and operated the restaurant at the bus depot for a number of years, followed by BK's Donut Shop on Main Street until their retirement. People still miss it. Kay has been a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pendleton since 1981, where she attended faithfully, singing in the choir and serving in several different capacities. She loved her church. She loved music-especially hymns, enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. Her family was especially precious to her. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Thomas & spouse Paul, of Pendleton, OR, son Monty Niles & spouse Becky, of Paradise, CA, son Peter Mike White, of Petaluma, CA, 9 grandchildren as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
