Wiley Bernard Kemp - 90, of Pendleton, Oregon, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at Evergreen Vista Home in La Grande, Oregon. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Pendleton, Oregon, on Friday September 23rd, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception dinner at the Church. Memorials in his memory may be directed to the charity of your choice, and may be sent care of the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. Wiley was born October 23, 1920, in Ashe County, North Carolina. He was the fifth child of nine born to Joseph A. and Candace V. Richardson Kemp. In the 1930's he came west with his brothers John and Ellis. He herded sheep in Wallowa County Oregon, and at one time built fence for Walter Brennan. He worked at the shipyards in Portland, Oregon, during WWII. He was a welder and machinist at the Umatilla Army Depot. He was a barber at the O.K. Barber Shop in La Grande, Oregon, for 25 years. He always had time to go hunting, fishing, and enjoy the outdoors. We will always remember the stories he told of hunting and fishing, and life. He married Blanche Elaine Pound on December 19, 1942. Wiley is survived by his wife Blanche Elaine Kemp, of La Grande, Oregon, Sons: John Thomas Kemp of Lewiston, Idaho, James Allen Kemp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michael Mark Kemp of La Grande, Oregon, as well as 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Blance,John,James and Mark we are saddened to hear of the passing of "uncle" Wiley.We always thought of Annie and Bruce's family as our extended family.Our thoughts are with you at this time he will be missed. Mom will miss her christmas card that came between halloween and thanksgiving. Lena Johnson Roland Lynn Johnson Farmer and Imagean Johnson Brackings.

Blance, Mark, Tom, Jim: While we will all miss Bernard who we have known for so many years we all know that he is in a better place. I pray that God is enjoying his witt and the great stories he has told me for my entire life. We will pray for your family. Love Randy and Terry Kemp
