Kyle Rowan Thompkins – 47 a resident of Pendleton, Oregon, and former resident of Tacoma, Washington, died on Sunday, July 24, 2011, near Boardman, Oregon, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday morning, August 1, 2011, in the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, Oregon. Sign the online guestbook at Arrangements are in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, Oregon. Kyle was born on February 3, 1964, in Tacoma, Washington, to Charles and Helen Fuller Thompkins. He was raised in Tacoma, where he attended Boze Elementary, McIlvaigh Jr. High School and graduated from Lincoln High School. While in school, he always played on football and basketball teams. He had been a lifelong supporter of the Tacoma Boys & Girls Club. After high school, Kyle followed his dream of becoming a chef and graduated from the San Francisco School of Culinary Arts. Along with being a Chef, he was also an entrepreneur, and had owned and operated restaurants in Puget Sound, WA. The Seattle PI had even featured a story about him on its front cover. Kyle was very passionate about cooking, and was always relied upon to be the family chef. He was very well loved by all of his friends and family, especially his children, nieces and nephews. He was especially close with his brother Charles, who was his lifelong supporter and friend. They were always there for each other. In fact, Kyle had recently moved to Oregon to assist his brother Charles in launching the Gitwitit Detail Academy, a re-entry program. The Academy is an automotive detailing school, designed to instill knowledge, life skills and direction into those who are currently unemployed and/or seeking training. His hobbies included cooking meals for family & friends, and he always loved music and dancing. Kyle is survived by his mother Helen S.A. Murphy of Tacoma, WA, his children: Brittney Berry, Kyle Thompkins, Jr, Cameron Baily, and Breanna Thompkins, all of Tacoma, WA, and Kendra Thompkins of Portland, OR, his brothers Charles Thompkins, Jr., of Pendleton, OR, and Kurtis James Thompkins of Atlanta, GA, sisters: Valorie Thompkins-Taylor of Houston, TX, Carol L. Murphy of Tacoma, WA, and Danielle Broncheau-Thompkins of Pendleton, OR, two grandchildren Alexander and Kaidin, as well as 24 nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Thompkins, Sr.
