She was the daughter of W.P. and Clara O. Townson Bennett. On February 14, 1962 she married Lester R. Gillette in Pendleton. Mr. Gillette preceded her in death in 1983. Lillie had worked in the Food Service industry as a Certified Dietetic Assistant at Eastern Oregon State Hospital Wards for 20 years, until her retirement in October of 1984. She then worked at Gillette's Pay Less Service Station, a business her husband had owned, for several years. Mrs. Gillette enjoyed getting exercise, and took a walk nearly every day, until recently, when failing health prevented her. She enjoyed visiting her cousins and friends, to whom she wrote many letters. She had several hobbies. Lillian had been a member of the Pendleton Elk's Ladies, the Pendleton Eagles Lodge, and several other organizations throughout the years. She enjoyed being an active part of her community, and found volunteerism very rewarding. Lillian is survived by a son, Kenneth, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her cherished friends John and Vicki Collins, and their family, as well as several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Gillette, her parents, a brother, and all her aunts and uncles.

We will miss Lillian and her weekly visits. She was always an hour early for her appointment so she could just sit and watch the girls work. She brought me a plant and I told her I didn't have a green thumb. So every Monday morning, Lillian would go back to our dispense area, get a cup of water, and water the plant. The plant is beautiful. During the last few months we noticed that it was more difficult for Lillian to walk so she would ask one of us to go get her the cup of water so she could water the plant. We will miss Lillian, but will remember her as we continue to water that plant! Lillian also enjoyed visiting with Larry about all the places they have been. She must of had a special place in his heart because he and Marilyn would take her out to lunch! Thank you Lillian for all your funny stories, good advice, and moral support. We will miss you.
