Gertrude Ida Pettyjohn Graves Webb – a former Pendleton resident Gertrude went to be with the lord on April 22, 2011 in Arizona. She was 102 years old. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, with a reception to follow. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Gertrude enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother! She was a lady of great faith and it was not unusual to find her reading her Bible and praying. For many, many years her family depended on her direct line to heaven and communication with God. Gertrude celebrated her 102nd birthday on the 17th of February of this year. She was born in Silt, Colorado, in the year 1909. She was the eldest of seven children born to Fred and Lora Pettyjohn. She was raised for most of her life in the Ione and Heppner, Oregon area. She married Shelby E. Graves on May 11, 1928. They were ministers of the gospel for the Assembly of God church in the Eastern Oregon area for many years. Shelby preceded her in death on April 18, 1983. They raised four children together. She married Stephen E. Webb on February 14, 1988, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2005. She is survived by her youngest son, David Graves and wife Betty of Maricopa, AZ, ten grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: James Pettyjohn and wife Lola Ann of McNary, OR, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three of her children; Marjorie Taylor, on November 16, 2000, Pauline Jensen on November 18, 2007, and Fred Graves on April 18, 2010. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Hazel Hynd, Earl Pettyjohn, Claude Pettyjohn and Clyde Pettyjohn.
