Elbert B. "Whitey" McQueen – a resident of Pendleton, died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at his daughter's home. He was 74 years old. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, Oregon. He was born on November 5, 1935 in London, Kentucky, to Jeff and Eliza Frances Shelton McQueen. McQueen attended school in London, KY. He moved to Pilot Rock, OR, in 1962, and worked at Pilot Rock Lumber Company, and Kerns Furniture Factory. He then went to work for Beef Northwest, a feed lot in Hermiston, and finally he was employed by Georgia Pacific where he worked until his retirement in 1998. McQueen married Jan Cartwright on January 13, 1966. That marriage later ended in divorce. He is survived by his daughter Linda Jo McQueen of Pendleton, OR, children; Ed Stevens of Boardman, OR, Terrie Tuthill of Toledo, OR, Ronnie Stevens of Jordan Valley, OR, Toni Cartwright of Tri-Cities, Washington and Brian Cartwright of Anchorage, Alaska. his granddaughter Jackuelyn Lee Taylor, of Pendleton, OR, great-granddaughter Gabriella Cecilia Taylor-Mendez of Pendleton, OR, brother Jeff McQueen and sister Kathleen Harden, both of Bloomington, Indiana, and sister Florence James of London, Kentucky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. McQueen was preceded in death by his parents Jeff & Eliza McQueen, brothers Harrison McQueen, Walter McQueen and Albert McQueen, sister Ruby McQueen, and step-son William Shad Cartwright.

Pops you will be so missed! Linda we love you and pray for you & your familie's peace threw this time. Your daddy was a wonderful daddy to you and it was neat to be present to see the special relationship you two had, thanks for sharing him with us, and being part of our lives we love you, and Pops will always be warmly remembered! Whitey will be remembered with a smile and warm heart. He was a straight up kind of man...mixed with that "twinkle in the eye" awnriness!..I am glad my daughter was able to attend, Whitey meant alot to her and he was one of her favorite people!

The Kyle family will miss our family member and dearly loved friend of Pendleton... I remember our last visit with him it was a good time like always ... he was a true gift from God. Alot of prayers go out to all the lives he touched..
