Kenny was born in Pendleton, Oregon on November 5th, 1932 to Nora Charley and Levi Van Pelt. Kenny grew up living near Tutuilla Presbyterian Church with his family then later moved to Mission across the river and he was educated in Pendleton. During his younger years, he enjoyed participating in war dances, celebrations, fishing, and hunting all over the Blue Mountains and Boardman for rabbits and geese. He also worked various farm jobs throughout the area. He then moved to Portland and made a living by picking berries and working in orchards. He really enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he loved fishing with them in the lower Columbia, Sandy, and Willamette Rivers. Upon returning to Pendleton, he went to work for the Yellowhawk Clinic Seniors Program for the last 17 years until this tragic event. Kenny enjoyed taking pride in his home, fixing cars, lending a hand to those in need; including delivering senior dinners each week, and laughing with family and friends. Kenny is survived by his nephews; Patrick Luke of Goldendale, WA, Myron George Jim of Mission, OR, Marcus Luke II of Pendleton, OR, Delvin Jim of Mission, OR, Phillip Greyfox of Mission, OR, nieces; Tracey Jim Allen of Mission, OR, Julianna Luke of Thornhollow, OR, Nora Jim of Pendleton, OR, and Michelle Greyfox of Portland, OR, as well as many grand nephews and nieces.
