Bertha A. Divish, a longtime resident of Pendleton, died Monday, February 22, 2010 in a Milton–Freewater care facility. She was 80 years old. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Burns Mortuary Chapel of Pendleton. Interment will follow in the Olney Cemetery, Pendleton. Viewing will be held between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. on Friday, also in Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Memorials in her memory may be directed to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent to the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. Sign the register book or send condolences at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Divish was born February 20, 1930 in De Queen, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Luther E. and Epsy L. Johnson Vannest. She was raised and educated in Arkansas. In 1952 she moved to Pendleton. While here she worked at Harris Pine Mills for many years. She married Donald "Buster" Divish on March 23, 1967 in Reno, Nevada. Mrs. Divish then left her work at the mill to be a homemaker. Mr. Divish died in 1982, and she then returned to school and became a CNA. She had worked at Amber Valley Health Care, now called Willowbrook Terrace until her retirement in 1992. Later she moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, where she cared for her mother until returning to Pendleton in 2001. She greatly enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family as well as long walks, reading, puzzles and hunting for mushrooms. She is survived by her children, Kay Dallman of Pendleton, Oregon; Lou Gregg of La Grande, Oregon; Millie Larson of Yuma, Arizona and Dale Divish of Richmond, California. One brother, Kemuel "Pug" Williams of Howe, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband, Donald "Buster" Divish.
