Chlora Belle "Belle" Emerick, - a resident of Pendleton died Saturday, October 31, 2009 in a Tri-cities Hospital. She was 82 years old. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2009 in the Meridian's Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Meridian, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Meridian Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of local arrangements. Contributions in memory of Belle may be made to help offset funeral expenses and may be sent in care of; Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801, or Meridian's Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 105 East Carlton Avenue, Meridian, ID 83642. "Belle" was born January 29, 1927 in Meridian, Idaho. She was the daughter of Merideth and Rosa Matlock Burgess. She was raised and educated in the Meridian area and graduated from the Meridian High School with the class of 1945. After her schooling she married Wade Whitt in Meridian, Idaho, and two children were born to that marriage. That marriage ended in 1947 and in June of 1948 she married Don E. Emerick in Nampa, Idaho. Four children were born to that marriage and that also ended. She came to Pendleton in 1963. While here she had worked as a waitress and had worked at Indian Hills, Cimmiyotti's, the Temple Hotel, and had managed Sambo's for a time. She had also worked at nursing homes in the area including working at the Evergreen Nursing home in Milton Freewater, Oregon. She has been retired for many years. She greatly enjoyed crafts, cards, bingo, gardening, and gambling at the casino. She is survived by four children, sons: Donald E. Emerick Jr. of Baker, Oregon, Rick Emerick of Hermiston, daughters: Tonda Turk of Pendleton and Sheila Emerick of Louisville, Kentucky. Two brothers, Phillip Burgess of Cascade, Idaho and Ron Burgess of McCall, Idaho; three sisters, Dolores Bonney, Lois McMillan and Cleo Purcell all of Boise, Idaho. Fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, two brothers and three sisters.
