Martha Frances Van Dorn – a resident of Pomeroy, Washington died on Friday, November 6, 2009 following an illness. She was 92 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, followed by interment at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. Contributions in memory of Martha Van Dorn may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, and may be sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Martha was born on November 18, 1916 in Seymour, Iowa to Frank A. and Nancy E. Baker Sens. She attended schools in Seymour, Iowa. In 1935 she graduated from Hedrick High School. On March 28, 1937 she married Earl L. Van Dorn in Centerville, Iowa. The couple moved to Pendleton, Oregon in 1954 from Seymour, Iowa. Martha Had worked for many years at the Oregon State Hospital in Pendleton. She moved to Pomeroy, Washington from Pendleton, OR in 1993. Martha is survived by her daughters; Nancy Ledgerwood of Pomeroy, WA, Norma Prock of Pendleton, OR, and Frannell Dudley of Pomeroy, WA, sons; Dennis Van Dorn of Jefferson, OR, and Lowell Van Dorn of Ukiah, OR, grandchildren; Patricia LeCompte of Kennewick, WA, Mark Ledgerwood of Pomeroy, WA, James Cathy MacRoberts of Kennewick, WA, Shannon Van Dorn of California, Todd Van Dorn of Pendleton, OR, Tonja Dan Pearson of Pendleton, OR, Kevin Josie Van Dorn of Pendleton, OR, and Shelby Van Dorn of Pendleton, OR, step-grandchildren; Hal Gina Prock of Sonora, CA, Stephen Prock of Jamestown, CA, Shad Heidi Dudley of Richland, WA, and Ryan Sophia Dudley of Richland, WA, and great grandchildren; Amanda Fabian Flores of Kennewick, WA, Kimberly MacRoberts of Kennewick, WA, Tyler Pearson of Pendleton, OR, Tanner Pearson of Pendleton, OR,- and Casey Van Dorn of Pendleton, OR, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl Van Dorn, a twin sister Mary Sens who passed away at 18 months of age from whooping cough, sister Luverne Earling Anderson, brothers; Earl Ada Sens, Neil Betty Sens, and Edwin Ella Sens.
