Douglas Darrel Jerome, 78, of Pendleton passed away in the loving company of his family on February 25, 2018.  Doug was born in Blackduck, Minnesota on December 24, 1939 to Frederick and Phyllis (Thompson) Jerome, the youngest of 7 children. His father died when he was 3 months old, and the family moved to Florida.  When he was 6 years old, they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon where he attended Orenco Grade School and Hillsboro High School.

In September 1957 he joined the US Navy where he served 7 years. 

In September 1967 he married Phyllis Foster – celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary last September 30.  They had 2 children, James and Angela.

In June 1988, Doug accepted a job at CAPECO and the family moved to Pendleton. He lost his sight November 14, 1993 but it did not keep him from staying active. He was Ordained as and Episcopal Priest April 3, 2002 and Ministered primarily at EOCI.

He was a 4-H leader in Tillamook County, coached minor league baseball in Tillamook and was currently serving as Chair of the Board of New Directions Education Project.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jewel, Fred, Gene, Donald and Sister; Joy

Survived by his wife; Phyllis Jerome, son; James (Denise) Jerome, Angela (Cody) Pursel, grandchildren; Kristopher, Alexis, Kasey and Melani, and great grandson; Kent and sister Francis Boicoff.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
