April 15, 1943 – February 2, 2016


Charlene E. Davis – a resident of Meacham passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.  She was 72 years old.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 11th, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Emigrant Springs Community Building at Emigrant Springs State Park near Meacham, Oregon, with a potluck luncheon to follow.  Sign the online condolence book at  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.

Charlene was born April 15, 1943, to Ed and Joyce E. (Bonnell) Parham in Tacoma, Washington.  She was raised and attended schools in Bethel, WA, and graduated from Bethel High School. 

She married Earl Papineau in Sumner, WA, in November of 1962, they made their home in Lexington, OR.  The couple had two sons, Dale and Dennis Papineau.  Dale preceded her in death at the age of three.  She and Earl later divorced.  She later married Walter Davis on April 1, 1995.  They made their home in Meacham, Oregon. 

Charlene had worked a multitude of jobs, from ranching to construction to secretarial, she also worked as a professional race horse trainer.  She also worked for the Pendleton Underground Tours as a tour guide, and for KUMA Radio in advertising. 

She was a member of the Lexington Grange, and later the Meacham Mountain Ladies Club.  She was a member of the Spout Springs Repeater Association, and was very active in Ham Radio and Emergency Communication.  Her call sign was KC7RQF, “Real Quiet Female”.  She enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as photography.  She loved nature and being in the mountains.  She really enjoyed the deer and turkeys that visited her yard year round. 

Charlene is survived by her husband Walt Davis of Meacham, OR, her son Dennis Papineau & wife Tanya of Athena, OR, grandchildren: Kari Papineau of Pilot Rock, OR, and Gregory, Levi, Curtis and Calvin Papineau of Athena, OR, step-children Sam Westover of Pendleton, OR, Jack & Cheryl Davis of Pendleton, OR, Dale Davis of Elgin, OR, Susan Langley of Springfield, OR, and Patty Whitteker of Lakeside, OR, step-grandchildren: Kyra & Keenan Davis of Pendleton, OR, Jennifer Westover of Las Vegas, NV, Wyatt & Jennifer Davis of Pilot Rock, OR, Sonny Vickroy, Adrian Cooley, Bobby Sue Stecht and Tracy Heinz, many nieces and nephews as well as several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Joyce Parham, her sisters Bethina Delmas of Roy, WA, and Nancy Whisnant of Oroville, WA, and her son, Dale Papineau.
