William E. "Bill" Adams – a longtime resident of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his home. He was 54 years old. A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at a later date in Spray, Oregon. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of local arrangements. Bill was born May 8, 1957, in Heppner, Oregon. He was one of two sons born to Logan A. and Aliene Weems Adams. He grew up in Long Creek, Oregon, where he graduated from Long Creek High School in 1975. Bill then was offered an athletic scholarship for his Football abilities, and played ball while attending college in the Tri-Cities, Washington, and La Grande, Oregon. Bill settled down in Pendleton, Oregon, where he worked as a Correctional Officer for the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution. Bill always enjoyed playing sports, and involved himself in city-league baseball and basketball. On May 8, 1984, Bill married Lisa L. Cameron in Pendleton, Oregon. The couple made their home in Pendleton. Bill retired in the fall of 2009, after having worked for EOCI for 28 years. After his retirement Bill dedicated more of his time to his hobbies. He was very skilled with his hands, and was known for his gunsmithing. He often would repair firearms for his friends, and once made a gun from scratch. He also was very adept at making jewelry and ornate knives. He recently began crafting custom-made canes. Bill also loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing or camping whenever he could. His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family, whom he loved very much. Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years Lisa Adams at home in Pendleton, sons Kevin Petersen of Bellevue, Washington, and Kelly Petersen of Pendleton, daughter Leilani Wilbur of Pendleton, his three grandchildren; Alexander, Logan and Shaylynn all of Pendleton, his father Logan Adams of Long Creek, Oregon, and brother Gary Adams of Monument, Oregon, as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Aliene Adams.
