Betty Anderson, a longtime resident of Pendleton, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at her home. She was 83 years old. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be conducted Monday, May 3, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. in the Burns Mortuary Chapel, Pendleton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pendleton. Burial will follow the services in the Olney Cemetery, Pendleton, Oregon. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the St. Mary's Outreach, and may be sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. You may sign the guestbook, or leave condolences at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Anderson was born Mary Elizabeth Curran, August 13, 1926 in Pendleton, Oregon. She was the daughter of Patrick and Frances Doherty Curran. She was raised in Morrow County and North Powder, where she graduated from High School. She married Ralph R. Anderson on August 14, 1948 in Pendleton. The family had lived in John Day before moving to Pendleton in 1957. While here, she had worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mills for 30 years before she retired. She had been an active 60 year member of the St. Mary' Catholic Church of Pendleton and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She had also been an active volunteer in our community, Betty volunteered for many groups including the St. Mary's Church, St. Mary' Outreach and the American Red Cross and several others. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. She was an avid fan of her grandchildren's sports and activities. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws Teri and Terry Sanderson of Wasco, Oregon, and Kathleen and David Hartley of Pendleton, Oregon, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Patrick Anderson and daughter-in-law Pamela Anderson-Courtain, her parents, a sister Katy Meyers and a grandson Ryan Anderson.
