Arnold Bennett Dooley – a longtime resident of Pendleton passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton. He was 82 years old. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Pendleton. Sign the register at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Arnold was born on August 18, 1927 in Paris, Arkansas to Roland M. and Anna C. Partain Dooley. He graduated from High School in Paris, AK. In 1946 Arnold left Paris and moved to Oroville, Washington. In July of 1958, he moved from Oroville, WA to Pendleton, Oregon. He had worked in Power Pole Installation for Arned Construction from 1951 to 1953. He then worked as a custodian and bus driver for elementary schools in Oroville, WA from 1954 to 1958. He was employed at the Pendleton Airport as a custodian and building maintenance man from 1958 until his retirement in 1987. Arnold had lived in Pendleton for 52 years. In December of 1979 he married Eva Catherine Chaney in Pendleton. They were happily married for 30 years. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church in Pendleton. He had been a member of the Main Street Cowboys from 1965 to 1979, and the Pendleton Kiwanis Club, he participated annually in the Kiwanis Kapers program. Arnold was a true entertainer. He loved to tell stories, and was known to walk on his hands. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, jogging and bike riding. He is survived by his wife Catherine at the home in Pendleton, sons Daniel Dooley of Walla Walla, WA, and Dennis Dooley of Albany, OR, daughter Shawn Shellard of Santa Cruz, CA, step-sons; Joe Chaney of Pine Grove, CA, Calvin W. Chaney of Pine Grove, CA, and Bill Chaney of Shady Cove, OR, brothers; R. M. Dooley of Paris, AK, and Frank Dooley of Wenatchee, WA, brother-in-law Bill Thresher of Oroville, CA, as well as 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
