Barry Allen Reidt, Sr.

June 12, 1933 – November 6, 2016

Barry Allen Reidt, Sr., 83, a resident of Pendleton died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at a Hermiston care facility.

Barry was born June 12, 1933, in Stockton, California, to John and Marion (Stockird) Reidt.  He was raised and educated in California.  In April of 1950 he enlisted in the United States Navy.  He served on the USS Radford and participated in Operation Ivy, the 1952 atomic bomb test staged in the Marshall Islands.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy in July of 1953.  He returned to California where he lived in many different cities in northern and southern California.  In the early 1990’s he went to Australia to participate in the “World Bowman’s Shoot”.  He moved to Stanfield, Oregon, in 1994, finally settling in Pendleton, Oregon, in 1999.  Barry worked as a carpenter and general contractor until his retirement in 1995.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #28 in Pendleton where he was a bartender and had served as Trustee.  His hobbies included hunting and fishing, he loved the outdoors and camping.

Barry is survived by his daughter Juanita Reidt of Pendleton, OR; son David Whaley of Pendleton, OR; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Warren Reidt, and a son, Barry Reidt Jr.
