Barbara Jean Stansbury

April 10, 1958 – February 12, 2016

Barbara Jean Stansbury peacefully passed away at the age of 57, on Friday, February 12, 2016, at her home in Pendleton, Oregon, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.  The love of her family and friends as well as her belief in God ultimately helped give her peace.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Seventh-day Adventist Church (basement) in Pendleton.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer society or curePC.org in Barbara’s memory.  Sign the online guestbook at www.burnsmortuary.com.  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara was born April 10, 1958 in Butte, Montana.  When she was very young her family moved to Spokane, Washington, which is where she spent most of her childhood, creating memories.  She attended East Valley High School in Spokane, Washington, where she met her best friend & future husband Robert (Bob) Stansbury.  She graduated High School in 1977 and soon after she and were married, June 11, 1977.  It was the happiest day of their lives until they had their children.  Together they raised two great kids, Susan Stansbury and Bobby Stansbury.  Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends, playing games and sharing funny stories.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed family vacations and camping trips.  Barbara had always been a hard worker…working for Nor Pac and Senior & Disabled services in Salem, Oregon.  She and her family moved to Pendleton, Oregon, in 1980 where she continued to work with Senior & Disabled Services for a number of years before starting work at Willowbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  She was with Willowbrook for over thirteen years.  Barbara loved working with the elderly.  This is the main reason she loved her job so much and the people she worked with loved her.  She had such a big heart, even during her cancer treatments she thought of others, making hats for fellow cancer patients to brighten their day.

Barbara was the beloved wife and best friend of her one and only love, Robert Stansbury for over 38 years; devoted mother of Susan Stansbury and Bobby Stansbury Junior; doting grandmother to Christopher Aguirre, Tucker Harris, Kirsten Harris, Jeremy Stansbury and Angelina Stansbury; dear daughter of Marlene Lawr & Alex Lawr (stepfather) and the late Jerry Ebel & Marie Ebel (stepmother); loving sister to Terri Luce, Karen Riggen, Sandi Gill and Raymond Lawr as well as stepbrother Donavin Jewell and stepsisters Cecilia Donnelly and Christine Rayburn.
