Pendleton

July 7, 1933 – September 29, 2015

 

Ellen Marie (Rueff) Greene, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Tuesday evening with family by her side, September 29, 2015, in her home at Elizabethan Manor, Pendleton, Oregon.  She was 82 years old.  There will be no services at this time.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is handling arrangements.  

Ellen was born to George and Marie (Fitzgerrel) Rueff in Decatur, Illinois, on July 7, 1933.  She attended schooling in Decatur, and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1952.  She then attended the Paris Hospital School of Nursing for two years and graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois.  She married Fred Greene on June 30, 1958, in Alaska.  They lived in Nome, Alaska, for twenty years.  They then lived in Los Angeles County, California.  While living in L.A. she worked for White Memorial Home Health for five years.  She retired from nursing in 1996.  Ellen came to Pendleton, Oregon in 1997, where she resided until her death.  She worked at Juniper House in Pendleton as the Activity Coordinator from March to December of 2001.  Ellen volunteered her time as the Secretary of the Northwest Republican Party and was elected as one of six hundred Outstanding Women of America.  She enjoyed painting, knitting and crafts.  She was a lifetime member of the Nazarene Church.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Deborah Carter and husband Curtis of Pilot Rock, OR, a brother, Paul Eugene Rueff of Missouri, a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Bollhorst of Decatur, IL, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Warren Boris Greene, a brother, George Albert Rueff, and a sister, Lillian Maxine Bennett.
