D. Darlene Golter

April 18, 1928 – September 29, 2015

D. Darlene Golter went home to be with Jesus on September 29, 2015, at her home in Pilot Rock.  She was with her husband Marvin Golter.  She loved her Lord and was ready to meet Him in person.  She was 87 years old.

Darlene was born in Little Sioux, Iowa, on April 18, 1928, to Floyd and Louise Dunkle.  She graduated from Council Bluffs high school in 1945.  In 1946 she married her soulmate, Marvin Golter.  They had two children, Terry Golter and Linda Snively.  They had eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.  She shared her love of God by teaching Sunday school for twenty-one years, and was also involved with the Cub Scouts and the Blue Birds.  She was instrumental in starting a food pantry in Pendleton and she loved sharing her faith at the places where she worked.  She had worked at the grocery store in Pilot Rock, the clothing store in Pilot Rock, Kerns Furniture and the Christian Book Store in Pendleton.  She was a Hospice Volunteer and worked for Stephens Ministry as a volunteer as well as the food pantry in Pilot Rock.  She was very active in her church and was a mighty prayer warrior for all.  She loved her grandchildren and played all the games they wanted to play, and usually beat them.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Louise Dunkle, and her brother Fred Dunkle.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Marvin Golter, her children, Terry & Mary Lynn Golter and Linda & Glen Snively, eight grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren as well as many friends.

Darlene was looking forward to meeting her Lord and Savior.

Viewing will be held Friday, October 2nd, between 3:00 and 8:00 PM, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.  Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 3:00 PM at the Pilot Rock Baptist Church.  Please join the family following the service for a Potluck Luncheon in the Church Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Darlene Golter may be made to the Pilot Rock Food Pantry and sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com  Arrangements are with Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.
