Bonifacia Maria Rivera

November 1, 1954 – June 9, 2015

Bonifacia Maria Rivera, 60, was born November 1, 1954, in Axutla Puebla, MX, and passed away June 9, 2015, in Portland, OR, following a long illness.

Boni was born to Apolinar and Josefina Rivera Torres at home in Mexico. In 1979, when she was 25 years old, she moved to Pendleton, OR, then to Milton-Freewater, OR, in 1982. In 1987, at the age of 33, she moved with her four children to Passaic, New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, Boni worked at several different factories. In 2002 she moved back to Pendleton, OR, to be close to her four children, and lived there until her death.

Boni's greatest love and accomplishment was raising her children. She worked very hard and made many sacrifices to give them everything that they needed. She was very proud of each of them and loved them dearly. To them, she was their hero.

Boni also loved flowers, especially yellow roses. She enjoyed gardening and had an extraordinary green thumb. Cooking was one of her best skills. There are many of her specialties that will never be matched. Boni also enjoyed music and watching old westerns.

Boni was preceded in death by 3 children: AnaMaria, Jose and Marikita; her brother, Juan and grandson Alex.

She is survived by her parents, four children: Antonio (Angelia) Aguilar, Lucesita (Cesar) Argueta, Alvino Aguilar and Josefine (Mariano) Vaquero; six brothers, Norberto, Alejandro, Meli, Alfonso, Reymundo and Nasario; five sisters, Bartola, Adelina, Irma, Teresa and Elvia; as well as the 16 grandchildren that she loved too much; Fabian, Susana, Cesar and Marisol Argueta, Julisa, Junior, Christian, Ayana, Jovan, Domanic, Aileya and Isaiah Aguilar, Devin, Richard, Damian and Adrian Vaquero.

Services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, OR. Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com

Tony and family,

So sorry about your mama's passing. May God comfort you all at this sad time. She was such a devoted mother and grandmother. She rests in the arms of Jesus. God Bless you all for caring for her so much in these last weeks.
