LAWRENCE WALTER YOUNG OBITUARY Larry Young, long-time resident of the Pilot Rock/Pendleton area, died peacefully at home on May 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Lawrence (Larry) W. Young was born on April 18, 1949, in Newberg, OR. He attended kindergarten through the fourth grade in Hillsboro, OR. His family then moved to Pendleton, OR, where Larry finished grade school at Hawthorne Elementary, Junior High at John Murray and Helen McCune, and graduated from Pendleton High in 1967. From 1969-1973 he lived in Hartford, Connecticut, where he was schooled and trained at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft to become a journeyman machinist. Larry returned to Pendleton and began his career as a lead machinist at U.S. Gypsum/Masonite/International Paper. He married Roberta (Robbie) Stotts-Hardin on April 5, 1975. Larry is survived by Robbie, his wife of 40 years, and his three children: Steve Hardin, Laura (Lori) Young, Christine (Chris) Young, and three granddaughters: Sarah, Kelsey, and Madison. Larry has four living brothers and one living sister. He is preceded in death by his daughter Deborah (Debbie), two sister, three brothers, and his parents: Andrew Young and Margaret Young. Larry was diagnosed in 1991 with Chronic Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. It is the request of his family that in lieu of flowers it would be appreciated that donations be made to the MS Society. All donations will be handled through Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Larry was a very giving person. Once Christmas he gave my son, Tyler a remote control car and it was the best gift he received that year.
