Violet R. Rachor

March 4, 1937 – January 6, 2015

 

Violet R. Rachor – a resident of Athena died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.  She was 77 years old. 

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held Saturday, January 17th, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Weston Memorial Hall, the family invites everyone to come, eat, and tell stories about Violet.  Contributions in memory of Violet Rachor may be made to the Weston Food Bank and sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.   Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com.  Arrangements are with Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. 

Violet was born to Thomas W. and Dorothy L. (Perkins) Florence on March 4, 1937, in Hugoton, Kansas.  The family moved to Stanfield, OR, in 1946, where she graduated from Stanfield High School in 1955.  She married Pete Rachor on December 6, 1955.  The couple moved to Omak, Washington, in 1968, where Violet was a foster parent to around 42 children.  In 1972 they moved to Milton-Freewater, Oregon, where she worked as a nurse’s aide at Elzora Manor.  In 1973 they moved to Weston, Oregon, and in 1974 she went to work at Lamb-Weston where she retired in 1999.  Her hobbies included spending time with family and pets, reading, baking and crafting.  Violet and Pete Rachor divorced in May of 2003.

She had five children: Debra Munck of Athena, OR, Martin Rachor of Weston, OR, Roy Rachor of Weston, OR, Sherry Totten of Athena, OR, and Jennifer Smith of Lewiston, ID.  She had twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, both her brothers Bill and Bob Florence, and one grandson Christopher Munck. 

She is survived by her children and her sister Doris McGinness of Hermiston, OR.
