Donald D. Kendall

April 16, 1960 – July 22, 2014

Donald (Don) D. Kendall, 54, of Pendleton, Oregon passed away July 22nd, 2014 on the job.

Don was born on April 16, 1960 in Nyssa, Oregon, to Calvin and Donna Kendall.  Don moved with his family to Ukiah, Oregon as a young boy and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1979. Don met the love of his life, Karen Schultz, while attending BMCC and they married in 1981.  Don and Karen had 33 wonderful years together and raised two beautiful girls, Andrea and Candi, in Ukiah.

Don loved his family and friends and the best times were the times he shared with them.  He was a skilled craftsman and could operate any piece of equipment put in front of him.  He logged in his early years; learning the trade from his Dad. Don began his long career with ODOT as a highway maintenance specialist and loved working for them throughout his 30-year career. Don was a ‘mountain man’ and hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and spending time in the ‘woods’ gave him some of his greatest pleasures. Don also loved being on the road with his biker family and growing fruits and vegetables for his family and friends. He took great pride in his girls and loved being a grandfather.

Don is preceded in death by his daughter, April, his parents, Calvin and Donna Kendall, his brothers Joe Kendall and Dan Kendall and his sister, Tina.

Don is survived by his wife, Karen Kendall of Pendleton; his daughter Andrea (Jesus) Armenta of Mill City; his daughter Candace (Shane Hart) Kendall of Pendleton; granddaughter Lylah Hart of Pendleton; sisters Mary Jones of John Day; Rachel Kendall of Condon; Becky Billings of Ukiah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Ukiah Cemetery, Ukiah, Oregon at 11:00 am. A potluck to follow at Don and Karen’s residence at 1 pm.  Leave condolences for the family online at www.burnsmortuary.com  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements.

We are blessed to have been touched in our lives by sharing in the life of a friend who had such character and integrity, who loved his family beyond words and always made his friends smile and feel welcome. A man who worked hard, played hard and loved his family. A man who touched many.
Prayers and blessings to your family Karen. We love you, Jeff & Donna

Although I didn't Don personally, I can tell by the information posted and the interview footage that he was a dedicated employee, family man and friend to many.

My condolences and prayers go out to your family in this time of loss and grief and may you find comfort in your memories of Don.

I knew Don from the Group Power class at the RAC. I have worked out in that class next to him for many years. He worked all day at ODOT, and then go to 2 work out classes afterwards. He was mostly quiet but was alwalys wearing a smile and when he spoke, it was always kind words. I will forever see him standing in 'HIS' spot in the corner, working out hard always wearing his cap. He will be missed!

Karen and Candy and Andrea and family--
We are so sorry... Doug's off on a fire, but his and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Don never failed to wave at me when we'd pass each other on the highway, on my countless trips between home and work in Ukiah. I will miss that.

Today they lay your body to rest. Some in my profession might think of you as a voice at the end of a radio. But to me you are one of my guys, but most of all a friend. I will miss that voice. Rest in peace 12M21.
