Sharon Woodward Lenhart passed away December 31, 2013 at the age of 75.  At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by family at Providence Saint Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash.

Sharon was born at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton, Ore., January 23, 1938 to Don and Ethel Woodward. She attended Helix Elementary School and Pendleton High School, and grew up on her family’s wheat farm. Sharon’s family fondly remembers her saying, “My life has always been about these wheat fields.” At Pendleton High School, she was a bright student who always made the honor roll and worked on the Pendleton High School Yearbook.

Sharon married Dennis Lenhart on November 21, 1956, and they lived on the Woodward family wheat farm, where Dennis farmed for 48 years. Sharon and Dennis moved to the Mount Hebron neighborhood in Pendleton and resided there for almost 50 years. They raised three children: Donna “Dee Dee” Diane Jones, who is the director of Good Samaritan Ministries in Pendleton, Dennis Eugene Lenhart, Jr., a surgeon at Walla Walla General Hospital and Steve Woodward Lenhart who manages the Woodward wheat farm in Pendleton.

Sharon’s most important life accomplishment was raising her three children, and playing an important role in the lives of her five grandchildren. Sharon and Dennis were life members of the Pendleton Presbyterian Church where Sharon once taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader, excellent speller and was known for her sharp mind, which she carried with her until she passed away.

Dennis and Sharon shared a love of travel, and spent many years touring the country in their motor home. They visited many state and national parks, historical landmarks and took several cruises.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Don and Ethel Woodward, and her grandparents George and Lucy Woodward and Fred and Katie Brown. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dennis Lenhart, and three children and their spouses: Tony and Dee Dee Jones, Dennis and Donna Lenhart and Steve Lenhart. She is also survived by her brother Jim Woodward and her sister Diane Nelson; her five grandchildren; sister-in-law Martha Woodward and brother-in-law Gordon Nelson; and beloved Shih Tzu Sasha.

I haven't seen Sharon since we graduated from High School, but she was a friend and I always knew she was a person to be trusted and cared deeply for her friends. My love to her family and know that she truly will be in a very peaceful place and loved by those who have gone before her. Love and Hugs to all of her family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sharon was a friend of mine in high school. We
would drive to the A and R for lunch in her car. She was one of the few students
who could drive a car since she lived on her ranch. She spent most of the time
talking about you, Dennis. She was madly in love with you. I was amazed at
her maturity. She was very smart, but also was very wise for her age. She
was just counting the time so that she would be out of school and able to marry
you. She knew without a doubt, that you were the only one for her. I always
looked for her and asked about her, at reunions. I am now glad to hear what
a wonderful life she had with you and her children and grandchildren. My
love and prayers are with you with your great loss. Rosemary
