Benny was born at home to Joe and Elta (Norton) Bennett in Joseph, Oregon.  He was the ninth of ten children.  The family moved to Pendleton in 1942.  Benny married Beverly Ann Hill in 1955.  In 1959 daughter Tena Ann was born, and fourteen months later, a son Tracy Scott.  As a young man, Benny worked with his father-in-law to build many homes in Pendleton.  Soon, Hill Furniture was opened.  He then learned the Upholstery trade, which he continued for many years.  His favorite activity was camping in his motor home with his friends in the Eagles Camper Club.  Benny enjoyed many warm winters in the foothills of Yuma, Arizona.  He was a longtime member of the Eagles lodge, and enjoyed many years of dancing and time spent with his friends.  He was probably known best for his joke telling.

Survivors include his special companion Mary Ann Adams, daughter and son-in-law Tena & Kelly O’Malley of Pendleton, grandchildren Carley O’Malley & fiancé Myk Schnell, and Shelby O’Malley, all of Pendleton, a sister Reta Hill of Pendleton, brothers Ervin & wife Jackie of Alaska, and Dale & wife Bette of Milton-Freewater, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly and son Tracy, parents Joe and Elta, siblings: Jetta Bennett Wyss Graham, Marion Bennett, Delpha Bennett Campbell, Mirval Bennett, Jack Bennett, Laurel “Bud” Bennett and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Benny was a longtime friend and a distant relative of Norma's, or "Kissin Cousins," as they used to say. We enjoyed a lot of party's and get togethers with Benny and friends, camping with them as part of the Eagles campers club and many years of traveling to Heppner for St. Patty's. Benny always had a joke ready - he will be missed.
