Esther R. Cree

May 12, 1961  -  November 11, 2012

Esther R. Cree - a lifelong resident of Pendleton, Oregon, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Pendleton.  She was 51 years old. 

A Dressing Ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, followed by a procession to the Agency Longhouse in Mission.  A Washat service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM in the Agency Longhouse.  Sunrise services will begin at the Longhouse at 5:30 A.M. Wednesday morning November 14th, with burial at 6:30 AM at the Agency Cemetery.  Arrangements are in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.  Send condolences online at www.burnsmortuary.com

Esther was born May 12, 1961, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Leonard and Lucille (Tias) Cree.  She was raised in Pendleton where she attended schooling.  She was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.  Esther was a homemaker primarily.  She dedicated her time caring for her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed basket weaving.  She was a member of the Washat and Sundance religions. 

Mrs. Cree is survived by her son Gerald Wesley Cree of Pendleton, OR, her brothers Raymond Cree of Pendleton, OR, and Robert McCoy of Pendleton, OR, a sister Mona Cree of Auburn, WA, her nephew Jacob Cree of Pendleton, OR, and four grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard T. and Lucille Cree, her sister Deborah Cree Speedis and her husband James Carl Smith.

In this time, it is hard on the family as you reflect the loved ones life...Reggie is not hurting anymore and she will be watching and waitting for the family to join her...May Jehovah ease your sorrow with time.

You have shown great strength these past few months for your mom. Now is the time to take care of yourself and your children. Always remember if you need help you only need to ask. Your mother loved you so much and I know you loved her just as much . . . "love steals us from loneliness" Hugs to you cousin!

I am blessed to have had such a awesome friend. I know this time is difficult for you and your family - Reggie was as much as a part of my family as she was yours. I have had allot of good times knowing reggie and I hold those times close in my heart and smile at some of the things we done together. Reggie was one of my best friends and I will so miss her. I am deeply sorry for your loss I know you miss her everyday. God Bless.

It is with great sadness to learn that she is no longer with us. I am sure she has been Blessed from above with eternal happiness and may her family find comfort and strength to go on during the days ahead. God Bless all and my sincere condolences with all too.
