Theodore W. "Teed" Kennedy – a longtime resident of Pendleton died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Pendleton.  He was 93 years old.

Memorial Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Pendleton with a reception to follow, also at the church.  Contributions in memory of Teed Kennedy may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church of Pendleton and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.  Send condolences online at www.burnsmortuary.com   Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. 

Teed Kennedy was born March 23, 1919, in Superior, Wisconsin, to Dwight H. and Maude (Hall) Kennedy.  He was raised in Isle, Minnesota, where he graduated from Isle High School with the class of 1937.  He then went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota.  On September 4, 1940, in Estherville, Iowa, he married Donna Marie Thro.  The couple moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where they lived from 1940 to 1950, where Teed worked for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation.  They then resided in: Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1950 to 1960, Billings, Montana from 1960 to 1965, Portland, Oregon from 1965 to 1969, and finally coming to Pendleton, Oregon in 1969, where they made their home.  Teed worked for Northwest Airlines 18 years before purchasing Carefree Tours & Travel in Pendleton in 1969, where he acted as President until 1995.

Mr. Kennedy was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church where he served on the Council.  He was a member of the Rotary Club where he had been a Board Member.  Teed had served his community as the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce President, Pendleton Country Club President, and as the first President of the Pendleton Credit Union.  His hobbies included travel and playing golf. 

Teed is survived by his wife of 72 years Donna Kennedy of Pendleton, his sons Patrick Kennedy of Pendleton, OR, and William Kennedy of Pendleton, OR, daughter Terry Poirier of Toppenish, WA, grandchildren: Brad Kennedy, Shelly Kennedy, Boddy Poirier, Heidi Poirier, Brandy Poirier and Kayla Poirier, nieces and nephews: Kathleen Lampland, Dee & Bob Skeie, Peter Valenty and Nancy Hammer, as well as four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers and two sisters.

Teed was my employer many years ago. He was and always will be my hero, giving me a job during hard times. I have great respect for this man. My sympathies to his family and friends. His loss is indeed great.
