Myrtle Lucille Zacharias – a longtime Pendleton resident, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 in a Pendleton Care Facility. She was 78 years old. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday May 18, 2012 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. You may sign the online guestbook or send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Myrtle Lucille Zacharias was born March 20, 1934 in Walla Walla, Washington. Her parents were Frieda Plucker Lent and Leo A. Lent. She was raised on a small farm at the top of Thornhollow Grade on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She went to school in Adams and Athena and graduated from McEwen High School in 1951. She worked as a caretaker for many years. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Personnel. She loved nature and animals. She enjoyed travelling and taking photographs. Her hobbies included reading, painting, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid fan of Professional Bull Riding, the soap opera Days of our Lives and classic western movies and television. Myrtle is survived by her son Frank Lamar of Athena, her daughter Linda Heintz of Pendleton, her grandchildren Christopher and Heather, two great-grandchildren, and her dear friend Mary O'Connor. She was preceded in death by her parents Frieda & Leo Lent.

Frank, My mother knew your mother when your mother was taking care of Marlene Davis. I just remember that mom really liked her, thought a lot of her, and spoke of her often. Dad worked at Davis Ranch at that time and mom worked at Delamarters and fed Roger. ha! I'm sorry that your mother has passed. God bless you and those important to you. --Carrie Bremer

Myrtle has been a part of my life as long as I can remember, her being best friends with my mother as young girls in school. I'll always remember her sweet nature and big smile. She was actually born 1934. I miss her very much and pray somehow I'll get over wanting to call her all the time and learn to travel by my big 52 year old self. R.I.P.ma,Love always!!!
