Wanda Rose Rice, 75 - entered peacefully into Jesus' rest on March 14, 2012 at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton, Oregon. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at the Pendleton Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Wanda was born July 18, 1936 to Lloyd and Rachel Donaldson Rice in Britton, South Dakota. The family moved to Portland, Oregon in the 1942, traveling by train. In 1947, they moved up the North Fork of the John Day River and lived at the Dredge Camp. When Wanda was 12 she moved to Salem, Oregon where she spent many years before moving to Pendleton in the late 1960's to be near her parents and her sister, Elnor Beers, who served as her special advocate. Wanda was not expected to survive childhood but remained a living inspiration to others for over 75 years. She loved to sing and had memorized hundreds of songs over her lifetime. She was a devout and faithful Christian her entire life. She was a member of the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church, but loved to attend services with many different congregations. She was active in service at Willowbrook Terrace, offering the daily prayers for the residents for over twenty years. She had an uncanny ability to quote scripture and a great sense of humor. She was a friend to everyone she met. Despite her disabilities, Wanda's attitude toward life was always cheerful and positive. She brought a great deal of inspiration and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by many. Wanda was preceded in death by her father and mother and her sister, Elnor Beers. She is survived by brothers, Daryl Rice of Pendleton, Larry Rice of Medford, OR, and R.J. Jim Rice of Redding, CA, Sisters, Pat Maupin, Dee Johnson, and Jeri LeMaster of Merlin, Oregon, numerous nieces and nephews, and a myriad of friends. Memorial contributions may be made to a religious charity of your choice.

For 30 years, whatever song I was playing, I could always count on Wanda to sing right out and to know all the words. Great sense of humor and a great inspiration to everyone she met. I will miss her a lot.
