Susie Boyd - a longtime Pendleton resident, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Willowbrook Terrace. She was 102 years old. Viewing will be held between the hours of 12:00 noon and 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Private burial will be held in Pendleton. Sign the online guestbook at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Susie was born July 19, 1909 in Jet, Oklahoma, to J.D. and Nannie Gordon Miller. At the age of 3 Susie's family moved to Newberg, Oregon. They moved from there to Weston, and finally to Pendleton. She married Lee Boyd on December 29th 1935. Together, they ran the Pendleton City Cleaners before retiring. Mrs. Boyd was the first licensed female pilot in Umatilla County. She was active in the Foster Grandparents Program, and the Senior Compassion Program. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was very active. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Boyd, her parents, brother Charles Miller, sisters Fannie Craig and Florence Holt and baby brother Isaac Gordon Miller. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Aunt Susie, stayed in the race for along time. She's at peace with her Lord. She's in a new body, new mind and at the foot of His throne!
