Donald Wayne McKague - a resident of Pendleton, OR, died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home, following a long battle with cancer. He was 68 years old. A memorial service for Don McKague will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, with a gathering of family & friends immediately following at the Vert Club Room. Donald was born August 7, 1942, in Buhl, Idaho, to Herschel Pete and Elizabeth Betty McKague. He grew up with his older brother, living in various small towns in Idaho before moving to Pilot Rock, Oregon, when Don was a 7th grader. Don graduated from Pilot Rock High School with the class of 1960, and then attended Moler Berber College in Portland, Oregon. Don married his high school sweetheart Barbara Bobbie Jean Cook, on February 28, 1961. Together they moved to Heppner, OR, then to Bend, OR, where they had their first son. They eventually returned to Pilot Rock in 1971, to work with Don's father cutting fence posts; before starting his own logging business. In Pilot Rock, the couple had two more sons. Don returned to Barbering in 1996, establishing his business in Pendleton. Don and Bobbie also raised their granddaughter, Maureen McKague Williams. He battled cancer of three types, for the past seven years and yet, Don managed to still live life to the fullest. He continued to enjoy golfing, as he was a longtime member at Echo Hills Golf Course. He enjoyed many gatherings whether for a barbeque or a few card games, of close friends and family, his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Don is survived by his wife of fifty years, Barbara "Bobbie" McKague of Pendleton, OR, sons: Donald Dean & wife Riki McKague of Pendleton, OR, Monte Ray & wife Nicole McKague of Sultan, WA, and Michael Wayne & wife Kelly McKague of Pomeroy, WA, his brother Jerry & wife Janet McKague of Pilot Rock, OR, fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Pete & Betty McKague, and mother & father-in-law Emery & Jean Fraer, all of Pilot Rock, OR.
