LEON P. BARNETT - A lifelong resident of the Weston area, died peacefully at his home in Weston, on Saturday, September 11, 2010. He was 92 years old. No services are planned. You may sign the online register book or send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Barnett was born March 4, 1918 in Weston, Oregon. He was the son of Andy and Angele Baker Barnett. He was raised and educated in Weston. He married Loneta Mackie on May 29, 1948 in Pendleton. He had worked as custodian for the Weston High School for a time and also at the Lamb Weston Canary. He then worked for 25 years as an equipment operator for the Umatilla County Road Department where he later retired. He greatly enjoyed dancing, photography and fishing. He had been a member of the Independent Odd Fellows as well as the Eagles Lodge of Pendleton. He had also been a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include: two daughters: Yvonne Street of Pendleton, Oregon, and Renee Woodall of Vancouver, Washington, one brother Merritt Barnett of Athena, Oregon, a sister Zada Dickerson of Pendleton, Oregon, four grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded by his parents, four brothers and his wife Loneta who died in 1996.
