Leslie F. Winks, a resident of Pilot Rock, and former resident of Pendleton, died Monday, August 23, 2010 in a Richland, Washington hospital. She was 53 years old. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, at 10:00 AM at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society and may be sent care of the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. Please join the family following the services for a gathering at the Oxford Suites. Mrs. Winks was born December 17, 1956 in Las Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Lawrence M. and Glena M. Wade Thompson. As a child she moved to Pendleton with her parents. She was raised and educated in Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton High School with the class of 1975. After high school she attended Blue Mountain Community college for a time. She married Edward Winks on October 28, 1988 in Pendleton. She had worked at Chuck's Mini Mart as well as Albertson's and then CAPECO all here in Pendleton. She greatly enjoyed dancing, as well as camping and spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She had been a member of the free Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Edward of Pilot Rock, Oregon, one daughter, Bobby Spencer of Pilot Rock, four brothers, Larry E. Thompson of Idaho, Steve M. Thompson of Emmitt, Idaho, Larry D. Thompson of Anchorage, Alaska and Michael R. Thompson also of Anchorage; six sisters, Glena M. Caywood of Emmitt, Idaho, Judith A. Walker of Idaho, Janet L. Stillman of Federal Way, Washington, Marian A. Bradley of Hermiston, Oregon, and Debra L. Mosher and Tina S. Southwick both of Pendleton. Four grandchildren also survive.

I am very sorry for your loss. I worked with Leslie at Albertson's. She was a loyal friend and a wonderful person. She will be missed buy all who knew her.
