Dorothy M. Murr - a resident of Milton Freewater, and former resident of Pendleton, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at her home. She was 75 years old. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Olney Cemetery, Pendleton, Oregon. Viewing will be between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 7th in the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Memorials in her memory may be directed to the Walla Walla Community Hospice and may be sent care of the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. You may sign the online guestbook, or send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Murr was born December 18, 1934 in Kingston, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Simon N. and Bertha A. Thomas Norris. She was raised and educated in Kingston. She married Lawrence W. "Larry" Murr on January 23, 1955 at Camp Pendleton, California. The family later moved to Pendleton, Oregon in 1957. While here she dedicated herself to raising her family and homemaking. She had also worked for a time as a nurse's aid. After many years in our area, Mr. Murr's work took the family away from Pendleton and they had lived in Colorado and California before they came back to Oregon in about 2000. They had lived in Aloha and Hillsboro, and later, after Mr. Murr's death in 2009, Mrs. Murr moved to Milton-Freewater to be near her sister. She greatly enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two children; a daughter, Tina Murr of Milton-Freewater, OR, and son and daughter-in-law Steven & Theresa Murr of Hillsboro, OR, two sisters; Betty Norris of Milton-Freewater, OR, and Virgie Carson of Kingston, Arkansas, one brother; Roy Norris of Redmond, OR, two grandchildren; Laura Murr of Tigard, OR, and Christopher Murr of Hillsboro, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, four brothers and two sisters.
