Larry Dee Bonifer – a resident of Pendleton passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at a local care facility. He was 74 years old. A Memorial Gathering will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Athena Cemetery Columbarium. Send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Larry was born on February 22, 1936 in Walla Walla, Washington to Walter and Violet Welch Bonifer. He was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He attended school at Gibbon, OR. When he was 19 years old, Larry enlisted with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. He had worked on farms and ranches most of his life. He had also worked as a spray painter for S & S Steel, and as a logger. Larry attended church at St. Andrews Mission. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had fished at Celilo Falls. Larry is survived by his longtime companion Annabell Swords, sons Larry Bonifer and Louis Bonifer, daughters Maryann Montee, Dorothy Goldenstein, and Toniea Bonifer, a brother Cecil Bonifer, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
