Mary Evlen Pound – a longtime resident of Pendleton passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at a Pendleton care facility. She was 87 years old. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton, followed by interment at Skyview Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Mary Pound may be made to the Jehovah's Witnesses Church, and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Mary was born on March 24, 1923 in New Meadows, Idaho, to Thomas and Mable Wedding Fitzmorris. She was raised in Idaho and attended schools in Cascade. She came to Oregon in 1944. She married Wallace Pound on April 3, 1958 in Pendleton. Mr. Pound passed away in July of 1981. She worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mills and had been a cook for several restaurants in Pendleton, as well as the Juvenile Detention Center before her retirement. Mary was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church. She is survived by her children; Rosemary Johnson of Pendleton, OR, Richard Lyda of Pendleton, OR, and Raymond Sallee of Newberg, OR, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Mable Fitzmorris, her husband Wallace Pound, a son James Lyda, brothers; John Fitzmorris, Ed Fitzmorris, Raymond Fitzmorris, and Henry Fitzmorris, and her sisters; Agnes, Tressa, Margo, Helen, and Viola.

MARY WAS A JOY TO BE AROUND I WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO KID AROUND WITH HER AND MAKE HER LAUGH I WILL MISS HER VERY MUCH SHE DEFINITELY TOUCHED PEOPLES LIVES
