Dorthy May Jones - a resident of Ukiah, Oregon, passed away on Saturday May 1, 2010 at a Pendleton care facility. She was 86 years old. Graveside Inurnment Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at the Ukiah Cemetery in Ukiah, Oregon. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Dorthy was born on March 27, 1924 in Aberdeen, Washington. She was the daughter of Charles and Pauline M. Hoffman Sams. She attended schools in Spray, Oregon. In 1947 she moved to Ukiah, Oregon. She had lived in Ukiah until 2009 when she moved to John Day, Oregon, due to her declining health She was married to Lloyd Jones. She was a homemaker, and dedicated her time to raising her children. Mr. Jones passed away in 2001. Dorthy was a member of the Camas Creek Bible Fellowship. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and beadwork as well as reading. She loved working with her hands, hunting, fishing and camping. Dorthy is survived by her children; Michael R. and Becky Jones of Pendleton, OR, Wilford Jones of Ukiah, OR, Delbert Jones of Ukiah, OR, Pauline and Elmer Sampley of Moses Lake, WA, and daughter-in-law Mary Jones of John Day, OR, sisters; Marion Davis of Walla Walla, WA, Carol Billington of Wheat Ridge, CO, Marjorie Davis of Spray, OR, Violet Evans of Hood River, OR, Audrey Finn of Cotopaxi, CO, and Isabel Kelly of The Dalles, OR, as well as twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was precede in death by; her parents Charles and Pauline Sams, husband Lloyd Jones, brothers Elmer and Richard Sams, sister Thelma Stubblefield, sons Lloyd Medlock and Melvin Jones, daughter Cleone Jones and one granddaughter April Jones.
