Harvey Post – a resident of Pilot Rock, Oregon died suddenly on Tuesday April 27, 2010 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington. He was 78 years old. Viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton on Friday April 30, 2010. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:30 PM, Saturday May 1, 2010 at the Pilot Rock Cemetery in Pilot Rock, OR. A gathering will follow the graveside service at the Community Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Pilot Rock. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Harvey Post was born December 18, 1931 in Crocker, South Dakota to Henry and Arlene Clark Post. He was raised and educated in South Dakota. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country in the Korean War from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He first moved to the Pilot Rock area in 1955. On June 28, 1957 he was married to Martha Widel in Pilot Rock. They were happily married for nearly 53 years. He left Oregon when he re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962. Harvey returned to Oregon in 1973 and retired from the Navy in 1977. After he retired from the Navy he worked for US Gypsum as well Cunningham Sheep Company, both in Pilot Rock. He was a life member of the VFW Let'Er Buck Post 922. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren. Harvey was "Papa' to everyone. He is survived by his wife Martha Post of Pilot Rock, OR, children; Joann Kinder of Meacham, OR, Guy Post of Christmas Valley, OR, and Joan Harrison of Pilot Rock, OR, two brothers; Eldon Post of Pendleton, OR, and Larry Post of Belvidere, IL, three sisters; Idella Morehouse of Bradley, SD, Darlene Novak of Watertown, SD, and Darla Lehna of Cameron, MO, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Leland Post.

Gary and I still remember the days when Harvey and Martha would come to visit us in Imbler to see Harvey's Uncle Doug. You will always have your memories in your hearts and God Bless!

Harvey's incredible sweetness and, yes, his wonderful sense of humor will live on in our hearts and memories. He touched many, many lives in such a direct and profound way. Especially mine. He is deeply missed.
