Ralph C. Elder Jr. a longtime resident of Pendleton, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at his home in Pendleton. He was 89 years old. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Skyview Memorial Park in Pendleton. Sign the register book or send condolences at www.burnsmortuary.com Mr. Elder was born July 17, 1920 in Pendleton. He was the son of Ralph C. Elder Sr. and Ione Morris Elder. He was raised and educated in Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1937. He married Shirley Sloan on July 24, 1927 in Ephrata, Washington. The family made their home in Pendleton and Mr. Elder had worked at road construction operating heavy equipment. He had worked for Morrison & Knudson Company before he began working for the Umatilla County Road Department. He retired in 1982. He greatly enjoyed playing cards especially pinochle. He also enjoyed playing scratch- off lottery tickets. He had been a past member of the Pendleton Elks Lodge as well as the Pendleton Eagles lodge. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Christie Elder of Pendleton, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, a son Richard Elder, his parents and two half sisters. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Hi Mike, I was so sorry to read about your dad, Audrey sent me the obituary in a E-Mail I then looked it up on Burns web page. I still think of the time when I spent the month that summer with you and your family, there in pendleton. Your Dad was really a nice person. My thoughts are with you & the Grand children.
