Mary L. Ledbetter - of Pendleton, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Suttle Care Retirement Home in Pendleton. She was 93 years old. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pendleton, with interment following at Olney Cemetery. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held at 7:00 P.M., on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Contributions in memory of Mary Ledbetter may be made to the Pendleton Round-Up Hall of Fame or to the Umatilla County Historical Society, and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Mrs. Ledbetter was born on January 19, 1917 to Fred and Josephine Price in Pendleton, Oregon. She attended school at Cayuse and Adams, graduating from Adams High School. She attended college in La Grande at La Grande Normal School, where she attained a Teaching Certificate. She then taught two years at the Cayuse School. In June of 1938, she married Lyle L. Ledbetter, and the couple moved to Cayuse to farm with her father. In 1985 they retired from farming, and in 1989 moved into Pendleton. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling to the coast and many other places, such as Europe and Alaska. She also enjoyed several cruises. Mary was an avid reader and loved history. Mary is survived by her son, Larry and wife Bea of Cayuse, son Bill and wife Darlene of Pendleton, and daughter Karen Kell of Beaverton, eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two brothers Fred and Dallas Price, two sisters Catherine Galenbeck and Josephine Hargett, all of Pendleton, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, and one sister, Martha Reece.
